Le projet d’oeuvre artistique conçu par les artistes Evelyne de Behr et Léa Mayer consiste à implanter une arche dont la forme sera la copie d’un cadre de porte des logements sociaux Destrier qui seront détruits dans un futur proche. L’échelle et l’orientation de ce chambranle de porte, identique à tous les étages du bâtiment, seront transposées dans l’espace public. L’arche sera érigée au centre du Site Destrier, dans le Mail de la Haquenée, véritable “colonne vertébrale” du quartier à la disposition des habitants. Lors d’une journée festive, il sera proposé aux habitants, et en particulier aux enfants, de se mesurer à l’aide d’un marqueur indélébile de couleur et d’y inscrire leur nom.
Implanté à l’extrémité du mail, l’arche va nécessiter la relocalisation du dernier lampadaire d’éclairage public et l’implantation d’un éclairage extérieur qui lui est propre sous la forme d’une suspension fixée sur un caténaire sur les deux pignons des maisons adjacentes.
Concernant l’aspect esthétique de l’arche, elle devra respecter la qualité de l’empreinte initiale rendue abstrait par sa matérialité en béton lisse de teinte claire. Elle sera réalisée grâce au moulage en silicone et plâtre du chambranle de porte existant dans le logement social et au coulage du béton dans ce moule sur le mail de la Haquenée. Les abords de l’œuvre reprendront le gazon environnant existant.
This project for a work of art conceived by artitsts Evelyne de Behr and Léa Mayer consists in implanting an arch whose shape will be the copy of a door frame of the Destrier social housings which will be destroyed in the near future. The scale and orientation of this door frame, identical at all floors of the building, will be transposed into the public space. The arch will be erected in the centre of the Destrier site, in the Mail of the Hacquenée, true ‘spine’ of the neighbourhood at the disposal of the inhabitants. During a festive day, the inhabitants, and in particular to the children, will receive the opportunity to measure themselves with a color marker and to write their name on it.
Implanted at the end of the mail, the arch will require the relocation of the last public lamp post and the implantation of its own external lighting system, consisting of a suspension affixed on a cable hanging from the facades of the two adjacent houses. Concerning the aesthetic aspect of the arch, it will have to respect the quality of the initial print, rendered abstract by its materiality made of smooth and light colored concrete. It will be realised through to the molding, in silicon and plaster, of the existing door frame in the social housing, and of the pouring of concrete in this mold on the mail de la Hacquenée. The surroundings of the work will consist of the existing grass.
